hi

I have gone to a far off place… a distant land where freedom does not exist. I’m taking a class for grad school. It’s 15 weeks worth of work all completed in a one-week intensive course. It’s only Tuesday, so I know better than to complain just yet. And, blessedly, I still managed to get 7 hours of sleep last night and finish all my readings and ( Read more... )

hey, chin up! i know it's only tuesday, but you'll make it through this week.

i'm really proud of you for all that you do, and most of the time, reading about all that you're doing makes me feel like an incredibly lazy person for just going to work 40+ hours a week and then doing all of the stuff regular, boring people do - like shopping, and cleaning, and paying my bills.

and about the wedding stuff, it's really refreshing to read something that honest about wedding planning. i've only been engaged for a fraction of the time that you and mike have been, but i'm already ready to been done with all the questions people have for me about how everything is going.

sorry is this comment is incoherent, i'm not really a morning person.

yeah, and there's an unhealthy focus on the bride, which i've resented all the way. it's mike's wedding, too! and the questions don't get any better. are you wearing a veil? will you say "obey" in the ceremony? what are your colors (my LEAST favorite question)? do you have a dress? how many people? where are you going for your honeymoon? will there be a big wedding party? blah blah blah, on and on. not to be ungrateful for the well-intentioned inquiries of others, but whatever happened to a plain old, how are you? i'm still lorien for heaven's sake. to lots and lots of people i've turned into the bride to be. yuck. luckily, my friends are still willing to make fun of me just like the good ol' days. no special treatment from them. nope! ;)

hey, i hope the package is ok. i forgot to mention that the little brown bag is not edible - it's bath salts. i don't know if it actually said that on the bag. :)

Honestly, you probably WON'T be excited until just before the wedding. And I do mean, just before. Like hours.

I wasn't excited about my own wedding until I got to the venue. Even then I was more stressed than excited. I didn't get really excited until I was about 5 minutes from walking down the aisle and I realized that everything that needed done was done, everyone who needed to get there was there, everyone was dressed, etc. And that even if something went wrong at that point there wasn't anything to do about it.

Hang in there, hon. Planning a wedding is a stressful pain in the ass. Taking intensive grad courses is a stressful pain in the ass. But at least by Saturday you'll have one of those out of the way.

:)
