She found it ironic that the one apocalypse that the Slayers had been ill prepared to handle was the one that had actually happened. It had always been a chance that it could have happened but still in their naivety no one had ever expected that there would be an apocalypse that Buffy Summers wouldn’t be able to stop. Then again Faith remembers it being a bright and sunny day in 2019, she had been sleeping when all Hell had broken loose and the army of Slayers had turned against them.

Faith shivers as she slowly sips from the beer. She hates waiting but right now it’s all she can do for the moment. She no longer fights vampires or demons, instead she fights against the many-headed serpent that created this apocalypse: Rossum.

“Have you been waiting long?”

The voice always startles her, no matter how many times she’s heard it. Faith slowly turns around and looks at her.

“A few hours, coulda been worse,” Faith replies with a shrug.

It’s odd seeing her face on another woman, especially one that reminds her so much of Buffy from before.

“I ran into some butchers,” Echo replies before sitting down at the table across from Faith.
“Are you by yourself?” Faith asks.
“No, Alpha’s securing the perimeter.”

There’s something about Alpha that scares Faith more than Echo. They both creep her out with their multiple personas and all but Alpha reminds her of Angelus to a degree. There’s a murderer locked in a cage and he’s just waiting for the right moment to break free.

“I asked him to wait outside,” Echo tells her.
“So why did you call this meeting?” Faith asks. The sooner this is over, the sooner she can get back to her ragged little crew.

Echo looks away, her face tight and Faith knows that she’s not going to like what she’s about to hear. Echo might look like her twin but Faith can read her just she used to be able to read Buffy. No doubt Echo wants to send her on some suicide mission for the greater cause. Faith rolls her eyes at how the other woman looks pained as she tries to find the right words. It doesn’t matter that they’re at war, Echo is noble and doesn’t want to send anyone off to die no matter what. Faith slams her bottle of beer down on the table.

“Look, let’s just cut to the chase, what is that you need me to do?”

As Echo blanches, Faith feels a bit of guilt.

“Look I know this is hard but I’ve been going off on suicide missions for a lot longer than this war. Just tell me what it is you need me to do and I’ll do it.”

“I need you to go Manhattan and destroy the Dollhouse there,” Echo replies.
“I’ll send word when it’s done.”
“You can say no,” Echo tells her.
“This is what I do,” Faith replies with a smirk.
