Ominous clouds reflected off the mirror like glass of the downtown skyscraper. A light drizzle saturated the pavement as reporters, photographers, and cameramen gathered around the entrance of the building. A lone podium with numerous microphones attached was position just in front of the revolving main doors. A security detail of a dozen men ( Read more... )

I love that she writes 'no comment' after he gave her a meaningless empty comment. Good job!

I enjoyed the fact that the reporter wrote "no comment" after such a worthless reply. The other reporters just asked softball questions. Were they plants, or just experienced and cynical, and knew their places? Your description of the reporters' mob was great.

When it came to the reporter's mob, I took my inspiration from the movie One Fine Day. Though, I have also seen actually press conferences, and that is pretty much how it seems to be.

When it comes the the first two reporters, they weren't actually plants. They were bought a long time ago. The first reporter has becoming cynical. The second reporter is easily bought due to him being on the lazy side.

I have to say, Aiken's evasive non-answer was pretty darned masterful.

His lifeless eyes were staring down at his little notepad filled with mundane and uninspiring questions.
I loved this description, and felt sorry for that reporter at the same time!

When it came to that reporter, I thought of someone that should have been out of the "game" a long time ago. He should have been promoted a long time ago, but for whatever reason he has been passed over. As a result, he has become rather cynical and easily bought.

As for Aiken's last answer, I sort of took my inspiration from politicians. They are like the masters of answering questions without actually answering the question.

:)

After writing this much, I told myself that I probably could write more. I even had a couple of ideas throughout the week.

One Fine Day is one of my favorite movies of all time. I loved this for that one reason apart from it being a brilliant take on the prompt. Tactfully answering without answering ... is such a politician thing.

It has been awhile since I've seen One Fine Day, but I remember that I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I'm really glad that you enjoyed it!
