According to the last spoilers, we will see Claire's off-island flashback. She would be shown "in a different place" and will be younger... kinda. I don't remeber now where did I see it.
Of course she'll stay. Until the end of the show, I think. No, I belive.
Just found it: From the mouths of the Lost-ies themselves...According to Emilie de Ravin, this season's Claire episode "goes back to when Claire was a lot, lot younger and in a very different place in her life."
I don't believe they have it plotted out (but that's just my cynical side saying they dont have a fucking clue what they're doing) but other than that, I pretty much agree. They really can't kill her off because of Aaron, but then she's kinda useless because she can't do much or she'll run out of story.
I don't think they have their on-island shit plotted out, but I do think they have an idea of what they're doing flashback wise. It's just a feeling I have, because like I said above, they don't have big gaping plotholes in the flashbacks (although they do with the on-island stuff occasionally).
To a point I think you could have something except I'm not sure how much of a history they've plotted out for Claire -- if you recall, originally, she was just supposed to be a recurring character but they liked Emilie so much that they put her on contract after they filmed the pilot. If you really think about it, Claire is not much more than a glorified recurring character. Hell, even the recurring Rose and Bernard have had a flashback episode and contract Libby got killed off before she could have one
( ... )
Well see, I think that works into what I'm saying. I think they have somewhat of a history plotted out for Claire (and I'm not saying they had it down from scratch, cos you're right, alot had to change from the original premise, but I think they have a bit now) but I don't think they have alot. And they've had to change things from how they originally planned it. Thus, short end of the stick.
Oh and about Libby, I think they have a bit for her too, and they planned on using other character's flashbacks to show it, but they had to drop that plan too. Shame.
No doubt, I think they've got their outlines and some notes but I think that sometimes they just don't know what exactly they're doing or how they're going to get to the point that they want to. Carefully plotted out and constructed plans/storylines can only allow for so many changes before they're shot to hell.
And I think Aaron's a bit of a problem where Claire's concerned but also somewhat of a saving grace. If they were to kill Claire off, Aaron's essentially an orphan, island community baby. While I'm sure that Charlie would jump at the chance to raise him, there would be those on the island who would object. However, being weighed down with Aaron, I think it limits Claire's activities on the island. Of course, none of this has to do with her pre-island flashbacks, or lack thereof.
i really really hope you are right. I think originally they didn't plan on having Claire on as long as they do now, I think that they realized how popular she is and how upset people would get if she were to be killed off
You know, now that you've said that, I agree. Personally, I don't think they planned on having her come back after "Raised by Another". But they were getting alot of bad press from the media that they'd forgotten about the sweet little pregnant Aussie girl, and they had to bring her back.
I think they had to keep her. As much as I hate the ship, the PB&Jers are a huge part of the show, and she's basically the only other available girl on the show besides Kate. If they got rid of her like they did Shanon, they'd be screwed and have to hire someone else again
Ah, but PB&J wasn't as huge a part of the show back then. If she'd have never come back? I doubt they'd have cried THAT MUCH over their lost ship. (no pun intended) And I doubt they'd have hired someone else - they have little regard for women other then sexing them up and killing them as they've made clear.
But meh, whatever, she came back and that's all that matters.

I'd comment more, but my brain is broken. Interesting thoughts you have, though. I agree with you.
