So, I decided to try P4 again today, see if I can kick the boss's ass so I can get the perfect ending.

I got a lot farther this time! Buuuuuut then Yukiko ran outta SP and I was SOL.

Suggestions? Best places to get SP-restoring item? Souji's 78, the rest are 77.

Unfortunately, there really isn't a way to get SP restoring items reliably. You can find them randomly in chests, so you could try trawling the easier dungeons for items. Also, if you're dating a party member and she gives you a food item, they can restore all your SP...but can only be used outside of battle, so they're worthless.

Make sure each party member has a clear and defined role, one they should only deviate from only when they have to, or there's nothing else for them to do. Most of them are viable to use, though Teddie is probably a big more useless than the rest.

I don't know what party you're using, but I do have general tips on what each member should be doing:

Yosuke - Yosuke's high speed is the main reason to consider him for your final party. The good thing about Yosuke is he can pull any duty. He can add additional firepower with Garudyne or be a fast item user. His healing in Mediarama isn't as useful here since Izanami targets the entire party most of the time. To maximize Yosuke's effectiveness, give him a wind ( ... )

Teddie - Teddie should be a backup healer/item user. He could use ice attacks, but even though he is the second magic user of the party, the damage output is just too low and he should save the SP for healing so the rest of the party can keep going. He should use normal attacks/items whenever he's not healing. Or defending, since he despite the high HP, he has the defensive capabilities of a wet paper bag. Teddie should have either a Blessed Hands (increases effectiveness of healing spells by 50%), magic raising accessories, or SP raising/restoring accessories. If you have no one else to give it to, Chakra Ring is also an option, but Yukiko and Souji can use it far better than he can.

Naoto - Naoto, offensively, tears apart regular enemies, like a friggin' hat wearing shark, but she's not as good at hurting bosses because she was designed to eliminate regular enemies. However, Atlus seemed to realize this and despite her low HP, she is defensively strong against the last few bosses of the game because she has high speed and the most ( ... )

Personal Opinion: In a party that has Chie and Yukiko, who's better, Yosuke or Kanji? ATM, Yosuke is higher than Kanji by at least five levels.

Either one will work fine. Any party combination in P4 will generally do well as long as you don't slot Yukiko and Teddie on the same team (except for the Heaven boss, where running both of them is actually a good idea ( ... )

In addition to what Levi said, also check if your items are up to date. Is everyone wearing the best armour they can? Are the people you're using to beat things up physically using the best you can get? If you're using Yukiko (and/or Yosuke as a caster), are they using the weapons you get from backtracking in their dungeons? The ones that give Yukiko +50SP and Yosuke +30SP

Additionally, you might want to check what Accessories you're using. I don't know what you've got, but I generally went for stuff that boosted damage, or in Yukiko's case, increased dodge against ice. But if you're running into SP problems, I highly recc the Chakra Ring on him, since it makes otherwise really expensive SPwise skills that are useful much more manageable.

I....have this nasty habit, see. I...tend to fail horridly at getting yen for weapons and focus mostly on getting my defense up rather than my attack. I do have the best weapon for Souji I can get ATM, and I have Yosuke's skill spanner thingies. (And I'm so going back for the chakra ring)

Don't worry about weapons so much. Chie and Kanji were the only people I bothered upgrading weapons for (I primarily use Souji as a caster), and even then, that was really rare. Just make sure whoever your physical powerhouse is has the best you can get. IIRC, some store bought weapons also may have secondary effects (like how Yosuke's Skill Spanners have +30 SP), so you might want to see if you've got anything that'll give you an extra edge.

Is Souji one of those SMT MCs where magic is the way to go, like with DeSu?
