Aaron and I are hanging in there. We still have no power, which also means no heat and no water. The estimated time for restoration of power in Hollis is Friday, which will make 7+ days in the dark. We've borrowed a small kerosene heater from our neighbors to keep the pipes from bursting. We've been staying at home on nights with temperatures ( Read more... )

Hang in there darlin! When I was living in NY, there was an ice storm that knocked out the power for two weeks! Luckily we had a kerosene heater but we had to bundle up at night. It'll be over soon!

Yeah, we've been sleeping on a futon in the den and shutting off the rest of the house, and it gets pretty toasty (when you're fully dressed and under all the blankets in the house).

Thanks for the well wishes.

Eep! {hugs} and I'll light a candle for you. (symbolic removal of darkness, if nothing else.)

Thanks! We had been doing Advent, but skipped it last Sunday because we were so out of sorts about the situation. Maybe we ought to do a belated 3rd Sunday tomorrow...

oh dear! reminds me of what it was like after the hurricane this past september. though a little less dark and a whole lot hotter, and with a lot more sirens and helicopters overhead. it does suck, but it also eventually ends. hang in there!

Man, I don't know if I could handle helicopters. I'm already so on edge, random noises and light might put me over the edge.

New England winters are definitely fierce and magical, like this live, devouring thing that sweeps down from the north and chases us little mammals into our dens. I just wish you weren't experiencing the cold dark of winter in such an uncomfortable and genuinely scary way! Just wait till spring comes. It feel so good, like the world really is waking up.
