I haven't read anything of Anthony Bourdain... I know the grocery store didn't have any mussels when I was there yesterday. So, I assumed the ones that showed up today would be fresh. They say they are live, but I haven't really asked them their opinion on that subject.
I have heard something about not ordering seafood on Sunday-Monday at restaurants. Hmmm....
It is really an experiment for me, so I figure there's a 50/50 chance of edibility overall. :)

Although...have you read Anthony Bourdain's first book? He has a bit to say about purchasing mussels during the weekend.
