I'm reading Helprin again, because he's coming to Schwartz's in a week, and I wanted to have his new book ready by then. And I am enjoying it v. much; there's something v. comfortable in Helprin's prose that keeps me inside the book without inflicting on my the humiliation of making me pause and wonder whether something monumental is being said.
