I was sitting stealing words from a Waterstone's the other day when I received a book recommendation. I'd never heard of Michael Marshall Smith before ("Well, you should have!"), but apparently he's a well known British author. I had my doubts, especially when informed that he writes crime fiction, since I seem to have a gut assumption that crime

This book is absurdly good. I haven't found characters I like this much in a while -- I'm going to go read the end now, and hope they don't all die in horrific ways.
Also, I have all sorts of new favourite quotes now.
