I don't really know about VA but in Texas you can get really low interest loans as a student that you don't have to start paying off until 6 months after you graduate. I would definitly look into it and financial aid.

Thanks...I know a lot of people shy away from loans because it can take forever to pay off debt after school, but I guess it isn't such a bad idea.

I didn't know you still had a livejournal...I was thinking "Who is this random person?" Hope you're doing well:-)

i would take out a student loan before i took a year off of school. the interest rates are low and they are considered "acceptable debt." in other words, that type of debt won't hold you back from getting a house, car, new credit card, etc. it will also help out your credit score a bit.

that's not to say that you should accept every loan that is offered to you, but i know you won't do that. only take what you absolutely need.

Wow, I actually didn't know there was a difference between debt from student loans and other debt...that's really good to hear:-) I'm just freaking out about everything, because I didn't expect to have to worry about undergrad, y'know? And I don't qualify for federal aid but there's a chance I can appeal their decision.

I hate money!

Do whichever one you think you can handle best. But you might want to graduate with all your friends.

Since I'm taking an extra year, most of my friends are graduating before me anyway, but that's a good point. I'm just going through a really bad time right now and I've honestly never done this poorly in school; but I have a feeling if I stopped for a while it would turn into forever. At the moment when I think "which could I handle best" the answer is really neither - I'm not very good at coping! I'm just glad it's almost time to take a break from everything for a while.

I hope everything's going well for you:-) Thanks for the comment, btw!
