I have been saved from wanting to be sexy, thanks to random men in San Francisco. While attending a conference (read: dressed professionally but definitely not sexily), I was cat-called or commented upon three times in the same day-- once by a homeless man. What is up with that? don't want to get into the other parts right now when it's too late, but I really hope you're able to reclaim the good feelings you were having about yourself, esp. since I know that you were losing weight in a way that was probably quite good for you, what with the walking and stuff, which means fitness... yay fitness. :)

I used to get catcalled/hit on enough after I left college that I stopped wearing anything remotely feminine or revealing (no skirts, no dresses, no shorts) and went with jeans and a tshirt/sweater/relatively-conservative-tanktop for nearly every social situation. Something to the effect of dressing so inconspicuously so that people would look elsewhere, anywhere else, just not at me. This armor is unfortunately no longer acceptable work wear, so now I actually have to *think* about my appearance again ( ... )
