Another Hallmark Day, another reason to shoot myself in the head.

Okay, so I hate Valentine's Day. I have always hated Valentine's Day. Four years ago, I decided Feb 14 was Halloween and dressed up as Daria. I dunno, I've just always been one of those people who believes that we should show our loved ones we appreciate them more regularly than once a year ( Read more... )

Ugh, stupid Adam. Nothing is worse than agreeing to not give presents and having one party break that agreement. I will fight him if you want...

That would be fantastic. Good luck getting your dueling pistols and sword through airport security :)

what about making him dinner? or even something cheesey like a mini scrapbook with pictures of you or souvenirs from the places you've gone, lyrics to songs you two like, etc etc

The Bunny and I had a conversation last week about how much Valentine's sucks, because it is one of "excuse" holidays, and you're never sure what the appropriate level of giving is. This especially bad for us, as we have just had X-Mas and our Anniversary less than two months prior.
That being said, if you really can't think of anything else, you in a negligee, or similar, followed shortly by you out of a negligee, or similar, seems to be the key to most men's hearts. And yes, that sucks of him to do, which puts you in an even more awkward place. Do you recognize the tremendouly sweet intention behind this action, and risk him doing it again, or punish him for it, and end up hurting his feelings?

I know, right? And then risk him never buying me anything again? I've kind of gone with the "I accept it, but I'm giving you shit for it anyway" approach.

Our anniversary is in Dec, so I totally feel your pain on the too-many-occasions thing. And our wedding anniversary will be in July, just days away from both our birthdays. The year is not long enough to hold all these things at reasonable distance.

As a male, I've got to back up Squeak here. Sexy lingerie + something. It could be a massage, one of his favorite home-cooked dishes, playing to one of his fantasies, or whatever. Maybe a romantic waltz in your living room in aforementioned lingerie?

My big V-day present to my gf this year is "Remember last week when I stayed up past four in the morning fixing your computer?" I'm getting her some minor stuff too, but I know she spent way more than I did.
