There's a blackberry bush on the walk home. This time of year it drops fat fruit onto the sidewalk, and at night, juice stains are inevitable. During the day, flies circle the ground like junkies, buzzing angry at your ankles as they break through the air

I saw what amounted to an angelic presence of moths when I went camping this weekend. The entire hillside was full of them, all hovering up and down, and it was day, and it made no sense.
