It pisses me off to no end that people consider Cuba a "vacation spot". That's like visiting Nazi Germany to see the fucking architecture. For goodness sake there are so many beautiful, tropical, cheap places to go in the caribbean is it really necessary to go somewhere where people aren't even allowed to speak their minds ( Read more... )

Do you realise people might actually consider your own country as bad as Cuba? What about the treatment of Taliban prisoners? What about a president giving fake proof to start a war? I do not see where Cuba is any worse than the USA.

In a few weeks time I will go there, as I am curious how the country will be like. I have visited several Caribbean islands already, therefore I'd like to see this one as well. All Cubans I've spoken to are very nice people, every single one of them praised their country. They might not agree with the politics - some do though - but that does not automatically mean that it shouldn't be visited.

Okay. Fair enough. What I find difficult is that a lot of Cuban Americans (I can't say you do, but it is the general impression I get while in Europe) see things extremely black-white. As if, because Castro is bad, everything American is good. I'm afraid I can't go there with them (you ( ... )
