I know I should have gotten up this morning and checked the website & hotline ...

... but I really wanted the day off. :(

The legislature couldn't agree on a balanced budget. October 1 is the beginning of the new fiscal year. Granholm refused to allow them any more time, so she told them if they didn't have a balanced budget by September 30, she was temporarily shutting down State Government. The shutdown lasted 4 hours and 20 minutes.

She proposed a Budget Plan almost 9 months ago. They shot it down saying they had something better ... but they were never able to physically produce it.

Not her fault the Legislature is made up of a bunch of procrastinating children who, among other things, are unwilling to compromise.
