Well, things are certainly different than I had realized. I knew my dad was on oxygen, but I thought it was a product of some rather severe asthma. He continually maintains that he can care for himself AND my mother and that's why he 'won't be put out to pasture' - translation, he won't consider assisted living ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to let go. It's the beauty and horror of what it means to truly love. That said, you know we love you and are always here for you.

Thank you. It's touch-and-go. What's really hard is that he is totally 'together' mentally, and seems fine as long as he's not moving. But he's 79 and I guess the time is drawing closer.

But 79 is young...we are never ready to see our family sick, suffering, and most definitely we are never ready to say goodbye.
