RIP Mr. Pigeon

I’m a horribly evil person. I ran over a pigeon today on my way home from work. It decided to land right in front of my tire when I was driving 60mi/hr with some asshole riding my bumper so there was no chance I could break. With an odd thunk and the fluttering of a couple of feathers in my rearview mirror, I hit my first animal.

I don't think I've ever hit an animal while driving.. yet.
Kent did hit a deer while he was driving my car though, and I was in the passenger seat. That was.. traumatic.

I have to say, pigeons can be really stupid. Once, I was at an intersection, and when the light turned green, the first car in line didn't move. People honked, but nothing. Finally, after about 10 seconds, the guy just went. I realized why: There was a mass of bread in the intersection, and pigeons were there, eating. Some had been run over, but the others were still there, eating their bread. When it was my turn to cross the intersection, I did it slowly... but the birds didn't move at all. It was as though they would NEVER EAT AGAIN and would risk life and limb for a free meal.

Agreed. Pigeons really aren't among the smartest animals on the planet. Actually they sit somewhere between cattle and genuinely brain damaged/retarded. I usually have to honk several times to get the attention of the pigeons in my apartment complex. They won't bother to fly away until I'm literally inches from running them over.
