I don't mean half-dwarves book-wise, I mean more in D&D. If it's short, there's no half-human version of it. THE PREJUDICE! Still, that's interesting. I didn't know that about Elrond! Now that he has the tragic mulatto thing going for him, I'll toss him in the pile with Thorin and Kili, ho ho ho.

Actually there are Muls, which are half human, half dwarves. They're of "normal" height though. They were apparently sterile in 2nd edition, but that was removed in 4th edition.

I saw it yesterday, and as someone who did enjoy the book and the cheesy old cartoon, I liked it a lot. A lot of the stuff they filled the movie out with came from the Silmarillion and the Appendices, so it fits as far as I'm concerned. The movie was long, but never really felt its length. Andy Serkis was at top form as well, his Gollum is always great to watch.

But I especially love that they worked in the songs that they did. I was convinced they weren't going to adapt 'What Bilbo Baggins hates', that it was just too corny for the flick. But nope!

So yeah, at first I was worried that they'd never be able to take 1/3 of a tiny book and turn it into a lengthy film, but they did. Now they just have to do it two more times.

I actually really enjoyed that song. Probably because they were just teasing him and didn't really break any of his stuff, since it seemed so rude when I read it way back when. But yes, I just loved the entire thing. I was wondering where some of the other stuff came from (like the other wizard thing), since I never read the Silmarillion. Peter Jackson sure does right by the fans.
