Pictures!

It took until nearly Christmas eve to get the final decorations up, but I was very happy with how they turned out. Very little of what I put up is "Christmasy" in either the biblical or secular sense, I just like putting up winter scenes or colorful vignettes that bring joy to those who look upon them. My nieces and their husband and significant ( Read more... )

First, I hope being in hospice means you get the care you need. That whole thing over your aides horrified me and made me furious.

Now on to the fun stuff! Your decorations are gorgeous. Walking (wheeling?) around your house must be like passing through some Winter Wonderland with interesting things to look at in all directions. It's like you brought the world to you since you can't go out to meet it.

That is a really great way to say it! I didn't bring the world to me and it is wonderful to wheeler on the house and have all these fun and interesting things to look at along the way.

One of my former home health care nurses called me yesterday to see how I was doing. They are still upset that they had to drop me from their service.

I should hope they are upset! They know better than anyone what your needs are. Will hospice allow you to get the same ones back?

No, The hospice programs are separate from the home healthcare programs. The hospice is about end-of-life care and making it as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The home care will always be about returning people to their normal state of health or better.

All the decorations look lovely, but I think my favorites are the blue and the silver--those are just stunning! And LOL, that bobble snowman looks mischievous and very pleased with himself.
And I agree; without the peace of God, health and wealth mean absolutely nothing. I hope hospice is a big help.

I love the blue too and I really like the way the doves worked into it. That was not planned. It just seemed fitting to that the Dove represents peace.

I love all the cardinals you have displayed -- cardinals are my favorite bird!

That passage from Philippians is such a comfort with its promise peace beyond our understanding -- that's a lot of peace! Praying such peace is with you always.

I like how verse 8 tells us also how to find that peace - that the things we put into our minds have a lot to do with it. That we are to think of the things that are true, honest, just, lovely and praiseworthy etc. It makes me think twice always about what I watch, what I read etc. if you put in things contrary to God and his goodness, then you're not going to find that peace

I love Cardinals too.

That's the cheerfullest house I've ever seen! It never occurred to me to decorate in the bathroom, but now you've inspired me. Cardinals are Shiremom's favorite bird, and she's scattered bright pictures of them throughout the apartment.

I'm wrapping you in love. If only chronic care was a smoother process, and one the individual wouldn't have to fight so hard for.

In my snowman forest, nearly all of the snowman have Cardinals roosting on them too. I did not realize how many cultures have the red bird symbolize good fortune and health among other things. I just love the cardinal though I admit they get pretty loud in the spring when they've had their babies! Not as bad as the Blue Jays though

I hope you find some new ways to decorate in your bathroom!

Your home looks amazing! Something everywhere you look. It must be a great project to put it all up, and then take it all down again. It's nice that "outsiders" enjoy it, as well. There have been years that the only people who have seen our decorations are the cleaners.

I love the chickadees on the bathroom wall.

I had to go look and see where I got that chickadee sculpture from. I've had it a long time. It is Bovano of Cheshire, which I think is in Connecticut, made in the US by local artists. I just looked at allsculptures.com which is where I bought it from and wow have they expanded.

It is a lot of work to take everything down and put up the new season, and right now I pay my niece and aids to do it although I do the final placement on everything I can reach from the wheelchair. It probably is the last year, but it'll of been a good year!

Oh my, I just did a search on that site. I could go crazy there. Maybe I will save up to buy one wall sculpture for the new house. I love chickadees. I have a watercolor of them and did a cross stitch of them, too.

Do you decorate for spring as elaborately as for winter? If so, I hope we see photos of that as well.

Spring is probably my least decorated season. If I were into bunnies or eggs I could do more, but I'm not. As I find things that are a little more elegant or even more in the folk art type then I think I could add some pieces - I am going to keep my eyes open but I'm not actively looking.

I hope you find something you like at that site. I loved those chickadees and there were other pieces I liked as well but they were expensive so I had to limit myself to one piece. There is a cardinal sculpture up above the cabinet but the difference in quality is great. I got that out of a catalog a year or two before finding the chickadees and it was an eye opener, as Sam Gamgee would say.
