no the size of the divs containing the images are sized to the exact size of the images....

its the images themselves... I can even see it when I just load the images into Photoshop Elements..

There is a method I know of where the edges get blurred with a stylized transparency to smooth them out... but I can;t figure it out

If you generated the corners yourself, it should smooth itself if you're using Photoshop Elements. Anti aliasing is usually used for text.

I'd look at the setting for image compression. If you're saving them as GIFs, you'll need to make sure that you have a large enough range of colors in the setting (also the type of color settings will make a difference). If you're saving it as a transparent GIF, the edges will usually become jagged because of limits based on "alpha channels."

If you're saving them as JPGs, make sure that you're not over compressing them.

Look up spiffy corner or nifty corners. You want to learn about antialiasing in
Css

I think your site looks great. I know there's a "soften" tool in paintshoppro which looks like a little gloved hand. Think: the hamburger helper guy. But I'm not sure if that's the technique you are looking for. You sound like you are onto something more high tech than that.
