I don't often read Harry Potter fic, not anymore anyway - not sure why, it just feels different and odd to me. But I am soooo glad I read this because it was completely riveting AS USUAL. Ugh I am too overwhelmed by giddy fangirling to make much coherent sense (HP short-circuits my BRAIN and now I'm getting all pumped up for the movie in a few weeks adfjskdfdf) but one of my favorite lines was this one:
Snape gives the slight twitch of one eyebrow that Draco associates with the awarding of points to Slytherin.
XD I could see that image so clearly it made me laugh, and yet in context it was also a bit chilling. <3 <3

I don't often WRITE it! And I don't often write about people whose lives just flat-out suck, either, but something about the idea of Draco's life in this MESS was just interesting enough to get the words going.

Gah, as always this is so good. So good. I love how your stories always leave me with...I'm not really sure how to describe it without sounding moronic. You know that feeling you get after reading a really good book? Like it pulls at your heartstrings a bit and leaves you feeling all pensive? Like it's left an impression on you? That's how I feel after reading this. I know that probably sounds ridiculous and I have no idea how to explain what I'm trying to say, but there you are. Fantastic job, in other words.

Game of Kings is probably my favorite HP fic in the entire fandom, so I'm massively thrilled you've written a sequel! God, your Draco is amazing, because you take all the things that are true about canon Draco and make a very real, painful, likable person out of them. This is just gorgeous. I love how your stories always feel like they're woven together really tightly and solidly by the different themes. This was a massively satisfying read.

The thing about Draco is that on one level he IS the classic bully; he's only insufferable when he thinks he has the power to get away with it. And in this situation he's lost his status in almost every arena.
