Oh. Oh, Frar, this is lovely. I need to go and reread it, but it's just wonderful. I love how you've woven the mythology and the movie together (oh, those comics, I ignore them, mostly), and it all just WORKS, with all the little character-insights and twisting as everyone grows up (and I wanted to hug Frayja when she was crying over there being no grass).

<33 I love this.

The myths are SO WACK, it's great, how can one pass up accusations of incest?

Particularly with Loki, where he had (IIRC) an entire poem devoted to insulting everyone else in the pantheon, and accusing them all of sleeping with each other (or him).

I love Norse mythology, so much (plus, canon mpreg! Oh, Loki).

It would have been cool to work in the fact that canonically the Vanir actually end up on Asgard as WAR HOSTAGES buuuuut I figured that was an unnecessary complication.

I kept trying to work out who she looked most like, but my brain kept throwing up images of Odette in The Swan Princess, who is really a bit too delicate (AND ANIMATED) to be right.

Thanks!

Oh my god, this is amazing. I feel all wide-eyed and achey after reading this -- Freyja totally won my heart, and her way of seeing the world in such depth and complexity meant I can't help but feel for all of them, Freyja and Freyr, Thor and Loki, everyone who loves them. My favourite scene was, of course, the one where Freyja cries in front of Heimdall and Loki and it's okay, because Heimdall is, exactly as you say, the best kind of grown up, and Loki and Freyja see each other in some ways more clearly and in some ways far, far less than anyone else ( ... )

Yay, thank you! I really enjoyed writing it; Freyja isn't my normal kind of character at all, she's far too sensual and nature-focused and actually in touch with her emotions (gasp!) so it was like stretching new muscles to sketch out her personality and relationships.

(She and Sif both remain POLITELY BAFFLED as to the things that the other person finds fulfilling.)

I was trying to describe Freyr to Ji and she was like 'so basically, he's Jamie Oliver' and I was like OMG YES. Enjoy that mental image.

Characters in touch with their own emotions are WEIRD. *nods firmly*

'so basically, he's Jamie Oliver'

<3<3<3 I am enjoying the hell out of that image, thank you. :D

Writing myths is very freeing when it comes to prose style, I find. There are some archaic phrasings and a certain lyricness that's too heavy for most stories, but has the right sound for a myth.

Thank you :)

Oh, this is wonderful. I admit to not being super familiar with Norse mythology, but this feels right, and it works really well with the world of the film. Lovely.
