The post of needing to post more

There is something good and right about keeping a journal of sorts. Writing, even when so casual and fandom-obsessed as what I tend to manage in my off-hours, is simply good for the soul. In short, I need to do more of it, effective immediately.

I have some other Austin friends who all gush over BookPeople, and yet in all my trips to Austin, I've never been there. I feel this is a wrong that I should some day right. Yes? It is as awesome as they say? I wouldn't drive to Austin for the sole purpose of going to a bookstore, but I keep thinking I ought to go when I'm there, and then I run out of time.

Bookstores are WONDERFUL!

It's the largest independent bookstore in Texas. It's the the sort of place where you can actually talk to the staff for book recommendations and it's full of nooks and crannies with old, out-of-place chairs for sitting and reading. Plus: good coffee, free wifi. If it weren't twenty miles away, I'd be there every day. In fact, what gives, why am I sitting at home instead of down there sipping fine coffee right now? Oh. Right. Twenty miles away... Damn.

Also it's just across the street from Whole Foods HQ (they call it their "flagship store," but it may be better described as a temple of food) in one direction and Amy's Ice Cream in another direction. Even if you hated books, the air is full of delicious opportunity!

ONLY IF WE CAN SHARE THIS CARDBOARD BOX.

And actually, with summer coming, you'd probably want to find a cardboard box with air conditioning.
