And I can't say that I'm really upset about missing E3 - there's been some interesting things announced, but I think I got the better end of the deal with my alternative arrangements ;)

I suspect you'd have the better end of the deal even if your "alternate arrangements" just involved sitting at home. ;) This seems like a ton of running around and far too much pomp & circumstance for an announcement or two...
