Reality depresses me and sometimes so does fantasy.

People have incredibly strong feelings about Doctor Who, and I should know, because I am a person myself (or at least I think I am) and a fan of Doctor Who. I've watched more episodes than I can give an immediate account of, I've heard more of the audio plays than I haven't, I read books (new and old) and comics (new and old). I participate in a ( Read more... )

I love the fandom. I know there are assholes, but I've managed to avoid them thus far, and the people I HAVE interacted with have been the best I've ever met. So to hear that the rest of the fandom is being a cesspool is a bit depressing. But at least we have a bastion of awesome here, right?

I wouldn't call it a cesspool. It's just there are a lot of people who are really passionate about their opinions and perspectives. There are smart people on every side of the argument, people I like talking to, reading fic by, RPing with... But when fans disagree, sometimes they really disagree. Yikes.

I just want everyone to get along!

I love lots of things, and I too don't see the point in arguing and causing drama and making people upset.

I'll be shallow and comment that I like Amy's legs. Because there's no harm in appreciation.

I also love being scared and creeped out by things in the show. Just in a general sense - though those last two episodes with the Silence were a good example. (I'm also not very hard to creep out, heh)

Fuck yeah Amy's legs.

(That sounds like it ought to be a Tumblr...)

If there is the real question is... WHY AM I NOT FOLLOWING IT?

People really need to learn to agree to disagree. Is that really so hard? Idek. I'm just glad my corner of fandom is fun and sane.

I love that there are no limits to what the show can do and where they can go. And I love that the Doctor and the TARDIS are so different from almost every pilot and spaceship in scifi space adventure shows.

The TARDIS is the most enigmatic spaceship in a scifi adventure show, by far!

With my cast of RP characters, I need to suck up sometimes. ;)

THIS. You've put into words (very eloquently, I may add) exactly what I've been feeling these last few weeks. I wish people could agree to disagree without becoming jerks. :(

I love everything about the Pertwee years, it's become my little safe haven. Even though The Doctor is grounded, there is still that sense of wonder and adventure. Also, UNIT is frakking awesome. :)

And I think the real shame of it is that the people who aren't enjoying the new episodes are feeling just as estranged from the fandom. Why can't we all just get along?!

And anything with the Brig = love.
