Fucking Golden

If I were to consider auctioning off the position of sunnycamehome2u (aka Ur Sunny) to the highest bidder, what would you be willing to pay? Because the job is fucking golden, and worth at least two or three million USD. Serious enquiries only please.

Soon-to-be-implemented changes in lj comments: no more subject line anonymous December 12 2011, 18:03:09 UTC
lj user igrick, dude in charge of lj design, has posted the following today:

New LJ. Step one: comments.

Folks, as the first step of a major design change me and Tyoma (lj user tema) were talking about we've rolled out the new comments system onto the beta-testing servers. I wanted to say "rolled out the new design" but it's really is a completely new system, not a simple design change. It's only available to beta-users for now (you can become one by joining the lj_ru_beta community and enabling beta-mode here www.livejournal.com/betatest.bml) and to journals that have default commenting design enabled (like mine does).

Better see once than read this text a hundred times, but I'm going to talk about my impressions and major changes anyway.

- new comments can be added without page reload;
- comments could be posted by pressing ctrl+enter shortcut - this is genius;
- comments no longer have Subject field and this is non-negotiable- mass comment actions are made simplier: you only need to select one comment and you'll see the actions ( ... )

Well, shit.

Guess it's time for meme to pack up and move to Dreamwidth then.

Time for me personally to pack up and move too. Man. I've been holding out for so long. But I've been trying to import another LJ over there for weeks now and of course it hasn't been working because of all the various issues. And LJarchive hasn't been working for months.

SA: ah, never mind. Apparently it imported fine two weeks ago and I just never got a notification email. I am now importing my primary LJ and it's working like a charm.

Oh, I didn't know it was working again - thanks for the heads-up! I haven't imported since two months ago, definitely time for a backup.

ayrt

So you have to import regularly? Is that to collect LJ comments from your mirrored posts?

I can see it's going to take me a good chunk of the day to sit down and figure out my way around not just the mirroring thing but also DW-specific difference. Right now I'm stuck trying to figure out the best theme to use -- so many of them are butt ugly!

I don't have the journals linked to automatically mirror posts, so the new ones only make it to DW when I do an import. But yeah, the point of my reimports is to catch the new comments on old posts.

Do you know if that overwrites comments people have made on the DW versions of the posts? I have mine set up to mirror posts and get comments in both places, but I'd like to periodically send the LJ comments over to the DW versions of the posts.

AYRT, no idea personally, sorry, since my DW is backup-only

Doesn't overwrite. Subsequent imports notice which comments have been imported before & don't double-import.

Am I correct that LJ doesn't like memes? In terms of advertisements, visits, etc...visiting one entry over and over again less profitable to them than trad comms?

Not our precious subject lines.

But is this only for the Russian portion of the website? I hope those screenshots have had a bunch of glossy editing done to them, because they don't look very good right now.

They don't distinguish between site audiences' languages. Those changes WILL be rolled out for everyone eventually.

Wow, the subject line thing is going to screw a lot of fandom. Kink & comment memes are going to be fucked.
