Watching newbies consume your canon

How fun is it to watch newbies consume your canon? Do you get all excited about it all over again? Do you sadly shake your head, knowing what's in store in Season 4? Do you have fun teasing them and making them think things are going to happen that never will?

I love seeing Red vs. Blue newbies hit the end of season 6 for the first time. It's always glorious. And then there's usually some nice meltdowns in seasons 9 and 10 too...

Making people get into RvB just so I can watch them react to S6 is what I live for. I was actually genunely disappointed when I realized a friend got from S3 to S11 without telling me, thus making me miss his reactions.

I was spoiled for the Big End-of-S6 Twist and it still made me squeak out loud. (I wasn't spoiled for the other Big End-of-S6 Twist, so my reaction to that was even better.)

Well YOU'RE IN LUCK because Haikyuu!! starts this anime season. The manga has been running for a while and I like it, so the anime will probably be enjoyable too. That's the only volleyball manga I've read yet. I'm not a volleyball player myself but I felt like the manga did a good job explaining all the rules and it made me interested in the sport. The characters are also fun, and I like the art style.

I raise my glass to your feat of spelling! And must admit that sometimes typing on your Midgard devices, particularly the ones without "spellcheck" can be a challenge. Although "autocorrect" can also, especially after raising some glasses, cause another kind of challenge.

I'm writing a big, id-ficcy [my fandom] goes to Hogwarts fic. Is there any way to avoid wank about who I've sorted into which house? The best I could think of was to have a lot of inter-house friendships, which I've done.

Roll a 4 or 8-sided die to sort them, and add an author's note to say so. Otherwise people will complain that so-and-so isn't a Hufflepuff at all, why do you think that? (Pretty much any character has a combination of courage, intelligence, diligence, and ambition, and having a character like Tony Stark being put in Gryffindor when he assumed he'd be Slytherin like his dad, Hufflepuff because of his slacker tendencies, or Ravenclaw for intelligence, might make him actually look for the quality of courage in himself. I.e., it doesn't have to be an already-defining character trait, but something that can be developed.

What's your favourite BPAL scent, meme? My standby scent is "Ave Maria Gratia Plena", but I also particularly love "Spellbound" (for special events) and "Pepper" (for fun).

How 'bout a fic I haven't read yet??

I have never read a time traveller's wife AU that I liked (that I can remember, at least; so I've definitely never read one I looooved) maybe because I wasn't much a fan of the book, maybe not.

But I see a fic in one of my fandoms that's TTW AU? Even if it's 40-60-80k? I save it for later. Then I stare at it for weeks or months. And maybe I finally read it.

I'm trying to clear out my saved list on the AO3! I need to read it! Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

I have never found a fic where my two favorite female characters
(a) interacted in a fic
(b) weren't somehow put in a love triangle with my favorite male character
(c) which didn't result in the one pairing (out of the three possible combinations) that I hate being endgame.

Yet I save every single fic with the two pairings tagged, and all three characters tagged, in the hope that I'll get lucky.

Ugh, I've been there. I'm sorry! What pairing don't you like? Between F1, F2 and M? I'm guessing your ideal pairing would be F1/F2?
