Service Orientation - FFA Post #315

Apr 03, 2014 21:15

Do you have suggestions for changes (that would make meme easier to navigate or understand for nonnies old, new, or equine) to the text rules & links section of the header part of each post? Do you have recommendations for changes/updates/clarifications to the information we provide in the personal and rules posts ( Read more... )

Given the wank a few posts ago, maybe clarification on the Spoiler policy. At least related to casting spoilers, since most of us are ok with using spoiler cuts on plot spoilers.

Indeed. I'm fine with the mods saying there isn't a spoiler policy because they don't want to go around policing spoilers (let's face it, that'd be a lot of work), but then they shouldn't go around deleting people's comments willy-nilly, either.

Definitely. If FFA is a Choose NOT to Warn experience. Meme away. only applies to potentially disturbing content, rather than spoilers, then SAY SO. Spell out that mods will delete and screen posts that contain spoilers even when not asked to do so by the original posting nonnie.

Because the way it's done now, sometimes deleted, sometimes ignored, is stupid.

Well I'm not 100% sure but I'm certain that if my father would let me pour some honey in my tea, I'd drink it more often.

This is pathetic, were you in such a hurry to get in first?

Inspired by a thread in the previous post. I'm fine with all media types.

The "cozy fantasy" thread we had a few months ago (http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/68815.html?thread=324428751#t324428751) overlaps pretty well with this, I think, so you might find some good suggestions there.

The first 3/4 of The Paladin by C.J. Cherryh fits. It's a low-magic or no-magic (depending on how you read it) fantasy set in a world inspired by ancient China, and is mostly about a young woman and an older man living on a mountain and training in martial arts. They go out on a revenge quest at the end, but even then most of that's a road trip.

Having just watched season 1 of GoT:

- Cercei is pretty dumb (very little of the scheming seems smart, but she seems the dumbest).
- Littlefinger is the hottest dude of the entire bunch.
- I might like Dany if Emilia Clarke wasn't a bad actress.

I think that Cersei is supposed to be dumb. She's scheming but also dumb. As far as i can tell, this is an accurate interpretation of canon.

ayrt Oh, that's nice to know! All I knew about her before watching was all the fandom brouhaha about her being a scheming queen with weaponized femininity and what not, but then she was like "I didn't have any of the king's kids on purpose! Even though I totally could have!" and "I'm just going to tear this piece of paper to pieces! That's so smart and will totally show everyone!" and so on, and I was like "??? What the fuck am I supposed to make of this stupid woman?"

[Spoiler (click to open)]I am so pissed off at Sitwell. That's like, my biggest rage right now. He was one of my favourites, and argh WHY?

I was really hoping it was going to be some sort of double-cross or something, but nope. COME ON.

Also, I missed half the conversation at Nick's grave, because the whole theatre couldn't stop laughing at the Pulp Fiction quote.

[Spoiler (click to open)]He's going to Europe, that's the main part.

And I loled too at the epitaph

Yeah, I was laughing pretty hard too, and then immediately realised that there was still stuff happening and was annoyed that I'd missed it.
