To the Vongola IX,
Don Timoteo,
Dear ally and friend to the Cavallone famiglia
Who, by the way, would like to extend warmest regards,
And say that is a lovely suit you’re wearing today,
Where did you buy it because my only good suit got a bullet hole in it
And I don’t think that looks very presentable to go around wearing bullet-riddled suits,
But anyway,
It is with great pleasure I write to you with the information you requested regarding the Vongola X, Sawada Tsunayoshi, and surrounding famiglia’s actions in Italy. On a whole, I do not believe these first impressions they’ve given me will last, so I humbly ask that you take what I report with a grain of salt. It seems to me after they have a bit more time to adjust to these new surroundings their true capabilities and character will show.
For now, I’ll give just a few thoughts on those of whom I’ve seen an acceptable amount, as a way of introduction to the scene in this hotel. If I leave out any indubitably important information or members involved, please accept my apologies.
Sawada Tsunayoshi -- I think most are pretty impressed with his actions as of late. He doesn’t seem to be too happy about the camera situation, and though Xanxus would argue that the cameras symbolize the importance of mafia observation, I think that he cares so deeply for the welfare of women shows his morals are more than intact and his sense of justice is strong. As for Xanxus, it seems to me it takes a bit more than Xanxus’ harsh words to scare him. Also a good thing. He’s gone out, apparently, and met some people -- the value he places on personal relationships is still very intact, despite a change of scenery. I know I’d be wetting myself -- I, I mean, cowering, if I were in a foreign country with no knowledge of the language and a whole lot of winding roads surrounding me. Sawada has managed to stay resilient in the face of change, yet hasn’t become passive to anything he deems unjust. Not bad, if you ask me. Don’t listen to what Xanxus says.
Gokudera Hayato -- he’s… in love. Or in really, really, really, really deep like. As such, things are a little tense for him right now. But understandable, right? From love you can tell a good amount about him: a little possessive, a little hopeful, a little happy, a little annoyed, a little stressed. Doesn’t that show his determination with relationships, friendships or otherwise? Last I hear, he was headed for a coffee shop. That’s what one of the informants said, anyway; the way I see it, it could be anywhere. I guess he needs some time alone, but I think it’s well-deserved, considering how much effort he puts into working to be the right hand of the Tenth, and to keep a valued relationship strong. …He can get a little scary, though, when faced with a challenger/instigator. But then again, we could blame the jet lag for his anger. Romario turns into a monster after plane rides. You should see him; he shuffles around with his hand on his gun, and I don’t know if he wants to point it at passerby or himself, but it’s pretty funny. ….Moving on.
Yamamoto Takeshi -- Obsessed with adult magazines. Still his usual cheerful self, with all the priorities in place, and consideration for others intact. He’s pretty funny to be around. First I hear he is interested in a member of the Varia, then a little bird tells me it’s actually a Vongola and what the, this has become a gossip magazine. I’ll continue to watch Yamamoto.
Sasagawa Ryohei -- he taught me the phrase “extreme suck.” It’s really helpful in a variety of unhappy situations. Sasagawa has shown great responsibility and caring in his treatment of I-Pin, whom he may or may not be completely smitten with; he’s got a good deal of principles, all of which he lives by. I sound like a motivational poster only because when I look at Sasagawa, I may as well be reading one. I hear he rescued I-Pin from some sort of room malfunction? He’s been helpful and motivated and enthusiastic about the change in scenery. However, he does tend to make enemies uncannily quickly on the streets. Not that it was his fault! He was happy to learn Italian. That, and -- he’s a little wary around his past opponent, Lussuria. Last I heard they were going to the mall, he, I-Pin, and Lussuria. I’ll have more on his relationship with his opponent when I hear the outcome.
I-Pin -- she’s been a saving grace for a number of us, me included. She plays peacemaker between Lussuria and Sasagawa and gathers information like it’s second nature to her. She has a sense of pride but knows when to ask for help (see: getting trapped in a hotel room). She’s befriended two Varia members, which some people consider impossible to do -- she’s a good addition to a rather tense group of Vongola family members. My only qualm is that she may be leading Sasagawa to an early death -- both out of extreme attraction to her and repulsion over the company (Lussuria) she keeps. But then again, maybe that’s something Sasagawa’s got to sort out himself. I myself really value her presence.
Hibari Kyouya -- well, I suppose as his tutor, I might be biased, but I really honestly believe he’s done a great job in the short time we’ve been here. Is in love or deep, deep, deep, deep like with Gokudera Hayato, pays close mind to the relationship, worries, hopes, is happy when things go right, lets himself get close. And isn’t that what you needed to see -- that he wasn’t cold-blooded? Quite the opposite, actually. Hibari has been under some tough circumstances, it seems Xanxus may or may not be worming his way between him and Gokudera in true Xanxus Fashion, but he’s maintained a grip on what he holds dear. He’s rather cold to the Tenth, brushes him off a bit in conversation. Not too sure what to make of that, but I think he’ll come around. He never let me boss him around, anyway. I hear Lussuria makes him vomit, but that’s a story for another day.
Naito Longchamp -- aahhhhh, errrrrr. Affable as always to those that were deemed his enemies -- that’s good, right? I think he could be a most trusted ally to the Vongola family, if we give him some warm milk and honey to calm him down. I hear he wants “gr oup dates.” That assures me it can’t be good. I think one of those girls of his that one time broke one of my ribs in that hug. I’m sure Longchamp would never try such a thing or would he..?!, however, so there’s no need to worry when lady-friends of his aren’t present.
Kakimoto Chikusa -- someone told me he looked like the Grim Reaper standing there in the hallway. Poor guy, he was locked out. Apparently he’s good at frightening people. Everyone needs one of those guys in their family, right? Carry on, Kakimoto, carry on.
I understand there are a few others to be addressed, but I feel more sufficient observation and interaction would be needed before I can paint an accurate picture of them. My gratitude once again for granting me the opportunity to return to Italy and make myself of use to you.
With sincerest respect,
Dino Cavallone
Tenth boss of the Cavallone famiglia
