Complicated-ness!
Why can't things end when they're supposed to without any problems? Why can't destinations only have one path? Why isn't it possible to just move on from an accident without looking back at the wreckage? Why do we have to consider the possibilities of what could have happened

because then people will never have choices..and without any choices, there's nowhere to learn or grow
because people always like to look back and see what they had...to some, it helps them move on, to others, it helps to keep them remembering the past
because people are generally always striving for something better instead of basking in what they already do have
