Some stuff about Layfon on:
+Heaven's Blading
+Felli and Layfon
+Layfon's canon suetacular abilities

If you are watching/are going to watch the show, AVOID THIS, it is full of spoilers.

1) Heaven's Blading: Layfon's pre-show history

AJ sort of covered what a Heaven's Blade is on the write-up she did of dites and military arts abilities, but I have the urge to talk about Layfon, so that's what I'm doing. Layfon became a Heaven's Blade receiver, ie one of the most capable military artists in Lance Shelled Grendan, at the age of ten. He's the youngest individual on record - beating out Savaris, who was thirteen ♥ - to have ever held one. However, the story goes - faced with ongoing pressure to fund and care for the individuals who lived at the orphanage he came from due to his high status, Layfon began to obtain money for the orphanage by mercenary actions and playing in underground matches - ie, fights for money. People betting, and so on. Layfon was able to help the orphanage to survive through this money, and so he was able to continue to live there. All was good for a while!

Then, Gahard Vallen, a big douchewaffle, found out about it and attempted to blackmail Layfon by asking him to throw his next Heaven's Blade successors match. If Gahard could have the Heaven's Blade, he wouldn't inform the Queen of Grendan of Layfon's illegal actions. Layfon responded by attempting to kill him during the match, but ended up only cutting off his hand. He was restrained, and exiled from Grendan permanently, the reason being that military artists - who aren't as human as they could be - should never be seen as a danger to real humans, and Layfon's behaviour had become dangerous.

These factoids make up Layfon's psyche as he comes to Zuellni - military arts has a high honour code. To have participated in underground matches, etcetera, is to dirty the Heaven's Blade and the strict code of dignity that came with it. Layfon occasionally makes an oblique comment about having "failed" at military arts, and this is where it stems from. Layfon does not have the pride, or the reasons to fight, that many other characters in the show present - certainly at the beginning of the show, Layfon has no direction whatsoever in his life. He was looking for a peaceful life at Zuellni, where he wouldn't have to fight at all, and didn't find one.

Instead of upholding the honour of military arts as most military artists do, Layfon's drive to fight comes from somewhere else. Layfon has a deep, inset survival complex from his continually difficult life. All he particularly wants is to defend himself, so he can continue to live normally, and to protect those he cares about. Layfon has no ideology, and so, for example, he will never fight on the behalf of someone being bullied and abused just because of the principle. If, however, he likes or cares about the person it's happening to, he will do his best to stop it. While Layfon is aware that many others from his world consider his life ethos to be shameful, even wrong, he sees nothing wrong with it, and has no desire to change it at all. He considers life to be far more important than pride. And even though Layfon develops through the show, he doesn't develop away from this concept as such.

2) Felli and Layfon

Psychokinesists, which is what Felli is, are the best stalkers ever. So when Layfon's wandering around being his usual derpy self, more often than not he will be being stalked by Felli's terminals, which look like pretty pink flower petals. Mocking him for this will be met with CONFUSION. With that out of the way, I felt I would talk about Felli and Layfon for a bit ♥ since having a Felli gives me the opportunity, mwahaha.

When Layfon arrives at Zuellni, he is determined to pretty much never pick up a sword again. Thanks to Felli's manipulative shit of a brother (ps APP HIM he is Koyasu portraying a suave version of Abel) he gets placed into a military arts platoon anyway, which is where he meets Felli. Now, Layfon and Felli are different to the other members of a) their platoon and b) the entire rest of Zuellni in that they are far more talented and powerful than anyone else. They are both at the forefront of their respective fields - the fighting side and the information side.

What Felli and Layfon also have in common at the beginning of the show is a desire to underacheive. Despite their both being altogether very good at military arts and what it entails, they were both manipulated into it by Kallian, Felli's brother. Both of their attempts to underachieve and undermine him are somewhat flawed, however - when filth monsters start to attack Zuellni this seems to go out of the window a bit.

Layfon's development in the show is down to a few factors that are based around people: he arrives as rather a defeated exile (see part one!) and Nina Antalk, the captain whose platoon Layfon is placed in, appears to be his immediate foil. While Layfon has no high-minded thoughts about military arts, Nina is full of them - even though Layfon is the younger, of the two he is far more jaded, and while Nina represents the high-minded way forward to Layfon, he doesn't necessarily take it. What develops is a bond of trust and affection between the two, which means that despite Layfon not agreeing with her ethics, due to his focused survival complex on himself and his friends, he will always protect her. The same is true for Felli, but there's a difference.

Relatively early in the show, while fighting off filth monsters, Layfon says to Felli "we are the only ones who can do this". Layfon doesn't only trust in Felli's person at that point, despite her having shown absolutely no signs of wanting to help at all, he also trusts in her abilities. Felli also tops the everloving fuck of him, a mixture of her abilities and her understanding of him making it very easy for her to "get" him and just. Steamroller over the thoughts he has that she doesn't agree with. Lovingly. With such lovely accolades as "Layfon's stupid". For example! When the platoon find out about Layfon's actions in the past, Nina can only understand the bad side of it - using military arts for money - and immediately believes it to be for personal gain, but Felli immediately grasps that he did it for himself and others, and points it out with a helping of "he's an idiot".

There is more lols to talk about, but mostly my point in talking about this is to address that Felli Is Important. Like Nina and Leerin and other people Layfon cares about a lot, when Felli is messed with Layfon flips his shit. IT ISN'T PRETTY. Biggest example of this is that when Felli is captured just for someone to get at Layfon, Layfon brutally wounds the person who's responsible. :|b Layfon will not attack a normal human!1 He just wouldn't do it. Layfon comments on himself as being a monster, and does believe that people who perform military arts to a high degree in Grendan are monsters, and have a monstrous amount of kei, and probably the only aspect of the military arts honour code he does seem to appropriate is what the queen said: because their kei is monstrous, "that we mustn't let people realise that military arts users and psychokineticists aren't normal humans". Thus, the part about how it would be wrong for a strong military artist to harm a normal human, or someone much weaker than they are. You know, unless they're directly in the way of the survival thing. Mostly in camp Layfon has been "derp", with some exceptions, but that switches on and off like a light bulb, and one of the ways to guarantee this happening is to be a person fucking with Felli. :|b Probably worst case scenario for Layfon at this point would be Savaris fucking with Felli, because that's someone that Layfon can't overpower easily. Derp. However, another point is that Layfon comments "I've never felt fear in battles ... it's always felt natural to win". The boy has no fear. :|b Thus.

WELL, THIS SEEMS TO LEAVE A PLEASANT SEGUE ON TO LAYFON'S ABILITIES.

3) Why Layfon Is A Canon Sue Layfon's PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERRRS Layfon's Abilities

NOTE: some of this is headcanon which might have already been disproved by novels I haven't read yet cause they're in Japanese la de da.

Okay, so AJ did a bit of a dite write-up already! I'mma talk about kei abilities in Chrome Shelled Regios for a bit. Powerful military artists who are fighters often have high levels of internal "flow" kei or external "burst" kei. Internal kei makes you stronger, and allows you to heal faster; and it makes you glow. Psychokinesists abilities probably stem from internal kei, because they glow too (THIS IS UNCONFIRMED I DON'T KNOW) and then that's probably why they're non-combatant, because they do not have a lot of external kei! External kei often presents itself in people who are stronger in it as an elemental ability. Layfon's, for example, is wind. Haia's is fire. Savaris' is "OH LOL I SHOOT THINGS FROM MY HANDS", so he doesn't really fall into this.

So people who are strong in either can become military artists of some shape or form! Some people, however, are strong in both. Layfon is one. In a few of my icons Layfon is glowy and green. This is when he's using his internal kei. He is also seen using his internal kei to make him faster - this is "flash", which I'll list down there in a bit. Notably, Dixerio, the "???" character of the series, is strong enough in both that he can transmute his internal and external kei together, in a "flow-kei burst-kei transmutation: THUNDER FLAAAASH" which had his element, lightning, and some form of flash ability mixed in. Gj, Dicks, feel pleased with yourself. He's the only character who exhibits this ability, though, so we don't have to worry too much about that.

Back to Layfon. His external kei is wind, and he can use internal abilities too, and heal himself real quick and all. So that's the diteless abilities taken care of. Let's have a list and talk about the ones he uses.

-Internal-type "flow" kei: flash! (BURST OF SPEED/LIGHT)
-External-type "burst" kei: tornado! (creates a bit tumult of wind. what a surprise.)
-Burst kei: houkeisatsu (by yelling, Layfon can disperse kei into the air and break the union of molecules or something. it can be defensive or offensive. HILARIOUSLY, it's a Luckens secret technique. gj at keeping your secrets secret Savaris.)
-Some sort of shadow cloney thing that I have no name for but he ... might do.
-And then there's the techniques most kei users can use, which is just the throwing of energy and so on and so forth.

NOW, about Layfon's dite. Layfon fights in a sword style called Psyharden, which is more suitable for the katana than for the full sword - while a katana was what he trained in, his Heaven's Blade was the "Sky Sword" or something like that, and it wasn't a katana. After he was shamed and left Grendan, he never fought with a katana again because he'd shamed the style or something like that. If you were to put a katana in Layfon's hand, his godmode raises by at least 100 points. But he won't fight with one, so forget that.

On Layfon's dite! Layfon has, as said before, a monstrous level of kei. And dites made in Zuellni can't cope with that degree of power, so he shorts them out whenever he has to exert himself more than a touch. However, I am going to have Felli bring to me when we thread one of the dites that are as follows: made of adamandite but not the big heavy black one, the dite has got two settings that go as follows:

Restoration 01: SWORD
Restoration 02: STRINGS

i think that's the right way round. This may be quickly edited if I am wrong. The strings AJ talked about - Layfon can use them to cut something the fuck up, or as a platform to get places, or even to lower people down or bring them up for places. They're multipurpose! They're handy.

The sword is obviously a sword. He uses it to chop things. Big things. Small things. It's rather self-explanatory.

I uh. I don't know if I am finished. If I find out more things I will add more things! As it is this will do. falalala talking.

no one saw me edit that
