Sweet.

Oh, and I've been finding your lutheric exploits quite fascinating - apologies for the lack of comments indicating as much.

Ditto - I just read all your lutherie entries and was laughing aloud in the office and then had to explain to my colleague what a mandola was.

Glad you like it. There may (or may not) be another attempt at a (hopefully working this time!) mandola in the near future. :)

I'm really enjoying Speedwritten by the way. If you have other albums bring copies when you next come up to York (Pride?) and I will give you cash. =)

Coolies - we have an old EP and I should be able to provide you with a sampler of the forthcoming album, although that won't be finished until about October.

What materials is it made out of?

Homebase 20mm plastic electrical conduit pipe (plus fittings) and an alto-sax reed. Held together with a hair-bobble.

Yeah, I do that accidentally all the time...

Cool! Will be interested to hear what it sounds like. How did you make it?

I'll do a separate post on materials, construction and sound when I get chance (hopefully at the weekend).

Which is very good, unless you were intending to make a hoover attachment.

Look forward to seeing your pipe organ, which was intended to be a retail display of drainpipes.

I did find a page written by the man who built a contrabass clarinet capable of playing at 4Hz (and very little else!). He used ~20m of plastic drainpipe.

Must be for a Russian military pipe band: shake some guts up in the field :o)

I believe 10-15Hz are the least comfortable for one's entrails, at least if I'm correctly recalling the course materials for the ride-comfort portion of the vehicle dynamics course I attended back in the day..
