I have only completed two books this month, although I've read plenty more without finishing them. I swear I'll be reading The Catcher in the Rye until I'm eighty. *sigh*
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
I enjoyed this book. I thought the author's candidness and openness about her own weaknesses and failures when it came to her resolutions to be quite refreshing. I got through half the book with enthusiasm, but halfway through it did start to drag a little bit. Unfortunately, I couldn't pinpoint why exactly. The whole concept of defining happiness and attempting projects to improve personal happiness is a fascinating subject to me. One thing I do love is the emphasis Gretchen put on the fact that her happiness project was not a selfish goal. Happy people improve the happiness of those around them, and by making herself happier she was making her family and friends happier too.
Evil At Heart by Chelsea Cain
These books are fucked up. In the best way possible. This is the third book in the series by Chelsea Cain and each one is just as gruesome and fantastic as the last one. Something about Cain's writing just does not allow me to put down one of her books once I've started. I finished this book in record time. At least the previous ones I was able to spread out over the course of a couple of days. I'd definitely recommend this series, but not to the faint of heart. They are creepy and downright disturbing at times.
