[Jessamine watches the dream for a minute, silent. The blood. That's all she can really focus on even though she does register that it's clear that there's something between Desmond and Lucy. She's not entirely sure how to respond at all. She knew that he wasn't normal. No normal person could 'free run' and this only confirmed it. So have a silent Jessamine just kind of staring at the screen.]
[....Of course his universal luck made it that his dream was broadcasted on the network. He can't help the look of guilt on his face when he catches sight of Jessamine on his Dreamberry's screen. He has no idea what to say. There is no way he can't deny or brush off anything the dream showed. For some reason, he can't stand the disappointed look she's giving him and he looks away.]
[And a part of her gets that - she really does. But still. The other part of her doesn't want to admit that fighting is something they share in common. She finally smiles although anyone could tell it was forced.]
At least you had your friends to support you through it.
[He easily picks up how the smile seems forced and it really doesn't help the guilty feelings. He tries to return her smile, but fails immensely at it.]
Yeah, I guess so. Though I don't think Shaun has ever killed anyone. I think he prefers to hide and let us do the work.
[When all else fails, try humor? Not that he's very good at it.]
[He had successfully hid from that kind of work for the past nine years of his life, so he feel you there, Jessamine. But with Minerva's warning about Earth's ending soon, there is no more hiding he can do. Not that he can really tell her that. This time his smile is a bit more natural]
Yeah, exactly. He has a knack of pissing them off.
[At least enough for Rebecca to have to save his life.]
I'm sure he could manage to defend himself on his own if he'd stopped talking for a moment. But yeah, good thing he has us. That's actually how he met Rebecca.
[So skilled at diverging the subject from him, isn't he?]
[He was afraid she'd say something like that. He shifts, obviously uncomfortable. The story of how he got kidnapped is not a fun one to remember and certainly not his most shining moment. And he'd have to explain his whole stay at Abstergo as well.]
I don't think it's a story made to be told over the phone, to be honest.
[That doesn't mean he's going to tell her yet. Sorry, Jessamine]
[She expected that, but as curious as she is, she knows not to push it.]
Oh, very well. You'll have to tell me at some point though. [Her voice turns teasing.] Pardon me for being so curious, but you two seemed rather fond of each other.
[He simply smiles at her, nodding once. It was noncommittal, but maybe with time, he is going to trust her enough to open up a bit more to Jessamine.
He gives her a shocked look for a short moment]
Lucy and me?
[Desmond looks away for a moment, feeling the warmth spreading to his cheeks. He can't deny that he has feelings for her. But which ones are what he's still trying to figure out.]
I trust her. [And his sanity. With the Fate of the world. And with his life. Which for Desmond, means a lot.]
[She might be able to read his expression, but Desmond is certainly trying to not overanalyze what's going on between Lucy and him. It's too much of a slippery slope. He shrugs lightly.]
We're just friends.
[And what the hell 'being sweet on someone' implies anyway?]

I...didn't have much of a choice.
[It was either them or him, after all.]

Ah, hiding from the lizard people and the men in the pointy hats is he?

Welcome to the 21st century. Although, I have to admit that his ego seems to have taken quite a blow from that.
[His smile falters lightly]
You mean Lucy? It's a....long and complicated story.

Oh, my, I do believe that it's more than that. You're sweet on her, aren't you?
