No, I usually don't but in. I don't want to be "rude" or "out of line". But I've heard this out of you enough times that I think you need a good talking to. You're obviously very depressed for any number of reasons, and as a coping mechanism you withdraw from other people with the rationalization that you're being socially responsible by "not being a burden" if you go off brooding by yourself, feeling like there's nothing you can do. You're not helping anyone by doing that, least of all you, and if anything you're keeping people from knowing your true potential as a person by hiding it, locking it away, bottling it all up. If there's no friend you feel comfortable turning to, seek professional help. No, I'm not trying to be funny. Counseling services are available on college campuses for a reason. Yeah, it can be kind of awkward and uncomfortable, especially for someone who's never experienced something like counseling.
