After watching all the original 6 movies, this is the next logical step. When I'm done I'll probably watch Deep Space Nine, as I understand Trekkies often consider it to be the best of series. Not sure I agree (I watched DS9 through a few seasons) but in any case, my Trek-trek will probably stop there. I don't think the other shows had much to offer.
DS9 is actually quite good, once you get through the first season or so, which was particularly painful. But unlike the other series, they actually developed a full story arc that was fairly interesting.
Trek is so very hit and miss, movies included. I watched a lot of Next Gen with my dad and brother.
I'm eleven episodes in and Picard hasn't said that yet. I plan to comment on all this stuff, noting which episodes started which trends. In fact I've already missed a few opportunities (such as Data being an annoying rambler, which I didn't remember).
