...Oh, this is very interesting. I wonder why they left me with a book? They must have not been kidnappers at all. Surely this is all an accident ( Read more... )

That's oddly specific...

Perhaps I should have included a less specific question? I am interested in any cases, not simply the book I have on hand.

Unless you broaden your search description, I don't think you're going to find anything like that here.

There is nothing here relying on stealing souls, then? That is a relief.

That's an interesting idea, but no, the journal is not powered through such means.

...as far as I know.

I'm Rydia of Mist and we -along with many others- have been brought to Luceti. I can explain further, but first--do you need assistance? I wouldn't want you to freeze out here.

It is a relief to know that. I am Isa, Visimetuo of bad fortune, I hope today finds you well. And yes, since I was not expecting such weather, and this clothing is poor protection. It would be much appreciated.

What can you tell me about your surroundings? Are you in the forest, perhaps? Do you see the river?

Yes, it appears to be a forest. My own woodcraft has failed, since I do not know the nature of this country. But I feel no rivers nearby.

This is Luceti and I don't think the journal is powered like that. If it were... I think a lot less people would use it.

I'm most pleased to hear that.

What made you think that anyway?

I could not perceive the source of energy for this journal.

You're speaking of binding a...soul to an inanimate object? [ That makes him shiver a little. ] The Malnosso are cruel but I don't think even they would do such a thing, so, no it's nothing like that at all.

As for where you are this is Luceti.

It is the worst thing one can do to a once living being, in my own opinion, so I am pleased it is not the case in this town.

I certainly have to agree. Why anyone would do such a thing however is beyond me. [ He'll give a small hum before continuing. ]

You'll find Luceti to be a...rough fit the first few months. But you'll get used to it after awhile, the people here are very willing to offer assitance.

I do not mind enduring hardship. And some will seek the advantages of any technology for victory over their enemies, uncaring of the cost to those they trample in achieving it.

Forsaken souls? That's not a very nice thing to say.

I did not mean to offend. Any soul thus treated can only be considered forsaken by fate and luck as well as humanity, that they would receive such cruelty.

Being stuck in a book where you could at least talk to other people and they'll listen? I don't really think that's cruelty. [Not to her anyway.]

There is no kindness in tearing the mind and the heart from someone's body, and draining the essence of their souls for twisted needs.
