oh man. if only everyone in the world was half as cool as you ;_;

What CDs are you talking about here? I have the system recovery CDs that came with my computer, but I hear it'll totally wipe out your computer if you use them, and just restore the computer to how it was out of the box. The Windows help base mentions something about using the Windows XP CD to start up a recovery something-or-other. Is that how I should go about doing it?

you have to start the cd like youre going to wipe it, but when it asks you where you want to install it, you just pick where yu already have it installed. it'll give you this whole warning about 'installing here may blah blah blah...' but just keep going. it'll replace all of the actual windows files and directories, but it'l leave all the folders under documents and setting for any users other than the system ones.

or you can take the hard drive out and put it on another comuter to get your stuff off. which is a lot easier... if you know how to disantle a pc.

By "where you already have it installed", do you mean the windows folder? Like C:/WINDOWS

My computer has 2 drives: C has Windows and all other programs, while D stores all my shiny important files. Will D drive be affected in any way?

No, but I wish I knew how to, now. <<;;
