Good weekend! Possibly made better by coming off a week of being sick.
Friday I was feeling a little better but not top notch, and my lead asked me to come in for a few hours at the end of the day because Kacy needed to leave early. I agreed, and didn't have any problems. But I decided to go see a movie after work, and I wandered through the bookstore first, went up to the theater, decided I didn't want to see any of the movies there, and on my way to the other theater downtown I started feeling a little shaky. So I went to the cafe in the bookstore and had a sandwich and some juice, and I felt a lot better. Decided not to see a movie anyway and walked home.
Side note regarding Black Friday: the "zombie speak" was created by simply not correcting any of my many typing errors. Sad, huh?
Saturday I woke feeling much better. I went to a matinee showing of "Wanted", which was quite enjoyable. Much was made of the curving of bullets. Following that I retrieved my hat from the grocery store where I had left it. Later I walked over to Freeway Park and got on the free wifi there. I was a little nervous - I had visions of someone running up, grabbing my laptop, and taking off with it before I could do anything - but my fears were unwarranted and I was able to connect with no problems, after wandering around a bit to find a good signal. My battery only lasted about half an hour, but it was enough for a first attempt, and I saw someone with a power cord plugged in, so next time I will hunt for sockets and signals both.
You'd think that was enough for a day, at least for my lazy self. But no, I got some laundry in, too. On the way back from the laundry room I ran into my apartment manager and asked her about filling out the paperwork (finally).
Which brings me to Sunday. I went in to the office and signed the lease, after a minor comedy of errors with the printer - first it only printed my last initial instead of my full name, then my apartment number was wrong, then some other minor thing was wrong. Wrote three checks, one backdated for deposit, another backdated for June's rent, and one postdated for July's rent. After that I walked down to the main library and picked up my new library card and a stack of books. Please allow me a brief moment of glee at finally living within walking distance of a library, and not just any library, the central Seattle library! :D I spent a happy afternood and evening reading Bujold short stories. And when I felt hungry, I had tasty pasta delivered to my door.
And this morning, up early and with a little time on my hands, I finally beat the Decathlon challenge on Peggle. Which is a video game by PopCap, and probably doesn't mean anything to anyone who hasn't played the game before.
Other random thoughts, while I'm feeling verbose: Newman's Own Limeade is sinfully refreshing and tasty on a hot day. There may be a hornets nest (hornet's nest? nest of hornets?) in the immediate vicinity of my apartment, I've seen a few try to get in my window, one of them after dark. The best time to ask about the correct pronunciation of "putanesca" is not when you're on the phone ordering putanesca.
(nest of hornet-americans?)
