Kacy, the other switchboard operator, was let go today. Sucks for me, I'll be solo on the phone till they find a replacement. If they do. The company's been tightening the belt lately, a couple of admins are going to part-time, and they even sent around someone from corporate a few weeks ago to encourage us to soldier on through the tough times

Word is that they have approval for someone part time - 10 to 3. Which will help with lunch & breaks.

Perhaps some leverage to get them to hire quickly?

Surely there are plenty of jobs for experienced switchboard operators. If I'm not wrong, you might to "accidentally" mention this fact. You've already mentioned that they consider you valuable. In fact, you gave one anecdote about how another company wanted to pick you from anyone avialable. Where did that person work again?
