:-) I work in a shelter for homeless kids between the ages of 18 and 24. Basically, after the counselors leave (on tuesday nights and two weekends a month, with one sunday during the day) I step in and hang out with the residents and make sure the house is still standing by morning. :-)

I did my internship there in my final year in college (I studied social work), but, strangely enough, they don't require you to have a college degree. It certainly helps if you do have one, of are doing social studies or have experience in the area, but it's not necessary. I suppose it's more your personality and people skills that matter. I really think it's odd, because it pays just as much as my previous job, where I was being payed according to my degree ... and I was ten times more miserable.

So, if you fit the profile, sure, you could work here. :-)

Nahh I couldn't just felt jealous for a moment, but guess you see some hard reality stuff as well.. I live in Denmark, with my husbond and our three girls. I have a very rich live, but a boring job... But it is paying allright - so I guess it makes it worth while.. :-)
