Alright, I've been immersed in FFXII for a long time now, and I kept saying it's the best one yet, which made me realize I had to do a ranking. I just gotta. Now that I own all but VII and III and have finished (or come damn close in one or two cases) them all except I and III, I think I can give a fair judgement. Note two things ( Read more... )

See I'm a man of pure FF:
1. VI
2. X
3. VII
4. VIII
5. XII

and then it gets really confusing, but I enjoy your ranking system, and not to be a huge nerd/a-hole, but shouldn't be counting tactics, not with the pure breeds, if you count tactics you should count other FF adventures such as XI, Mystic Quest, Adventure I and II, Crystal Cronicles and so on.

But above both all of the above games, for me is Chron Trigger and Chrono Cross, my two favorite games in the world that I don't own :(

All that being said I respect your decisions, even if I don't wholly agree with them.

Both of which I own, ah yeah. Also, I would have ranked the other spinoffs if I had played them, but I can not speak of Final Fantasy without mentioning the best game bar none in the world, Tactics. FFT is the purest of them all, it's the purest game to grace this earth. It's pure joy! But I digress.

And if you like job systems at all, play Final Fantasy V! It's so damn good. After Tactics I've put the most amount of time in to that game, Job System brings such ridiculous customization to a game, it adds something that can't be touched by any other implementation.

The only reason I really didnt like X-2 was because of the crappy job system. no real reward for mastery like in the other games.

I really enjoyed playing III for DS, and I can lend it too you when I get home. Also, I'm surprised you dont own VII

8 before 7? Silly silly child. I have yet to touch 12 (probably won't until Christmas-time), but that's a pretty accurate listing -- 2 and X2 happily being dead last (I put both of em down midway though; X2 somewhere in Chapter 3 after doing too many laps around the world and bearing witness to that hot springs scene which just screamed fan service), and FFTA if nothing more than a blight to the original.

I'd put both 9 and 4 in front of 10, and 8 below FFTA. Just me, though. But I'm a sucker for the class system.

Ohhh, more X2 bashing, and I'll quote Tommy/Garreth on this one:

"Paine would have killed both Yuna and Rikku within the first five minutes of the game"

So happy you appreciate FFT (even more than I do...which is scary).

But on a more interesting note (which no one else will appreciate since no one has played Suikoden), I can't believe you ranked III for a tie with I. The first one should definitely win out. With three I got so bored seeing the exact same scenes so many times (albeit from slightly different perspectives). Plus the battle system was messed up, wasn't it? (four people? or three groups of two or something? I dunno). In any case, I can't wait to play Suikoden V since you speak to highly of it.

Yes the battle system wasn't that great in III, buuut I think until V came along it had the best characters (in terms of development, not overall badass...ness), the best story no doubt, and I quite enjoyed the different perspectives, especially when you unlock the fourth part, when you can play as Luc, Sarah, and Yuber. So sweet.

I had a more fun battle system, more fun wars, and was just a blast over all but 75% of your characters pretty much just joined you randomly and had no back story or motivations.

Some reasonings, they are both amazing games though, definitely up there with the best of them. And yes, you need to play V, it's very reminiscent of I/II and you should love it, amazing game.

Ahhh, I forgot about playing as Luc.

Man it feels good to get all of those stars (though undoubtedly impossible without a walkthrough). You know, I didn't much like that game, but having Luc be the surprise villain was a wonderful touch.

Also, I won't be in to work tonight, but who knows what tomorrow will bring. I'll definitely accomodate your request if I can.

PS - If you are at work sometime today or tomorrow, would you mind checking my schedule and maybe posting it here for me? I'm too lazy to search for a way to get in to work and check myself...

Weird though, I didn't even notice I did that, that's ****ing strange man.
