OMG, THIS EPISODE! MY BRAIIIIIIIIN!
It was so cool. So cool. All of time happening at once is such a fun concept, both from a storytelling point of view, and a visual one. I know River was being selfish in risking millions of lives to keep the Doctor alive, but you can't say several other of the Doctor's former companions wouldn't have risked the same. I think it was funny how the Doctor was like "You're embarrassing me!" to River. Honey, have you seen your wardrobe? You're Captain Embarrassment.
Speaking of Captain... RORY FUCKING WILLIAMS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! RORANICUS PONDICUS! THE LAST CENTURION! Gawd, this man! *basks in his glory*
POND, AMELIA POND. HELLS YEAH! Has her own office on a train, running this shit, aw yeah! I LOVE WHAT SHE DID TO MADAME KAVORIAN. I DON'T GIVE A FUCK WHAT PEOPLE SAY. All season everyone's been whining "agency" this and "she doesn't care that she lost her baby" that. Well, what do you fucking expect? If she and Rory had gotten baby River back, they would have changed her time line, which, seeing as how younger Amy was in River's time line, and River saved her from the Weeping Angels, that would mean that Amy would have died w/o River there and River never would have been born anyway! Duh d'oy.
So the Doctor's hair was longer because he kept aging, but as that was the robot, the crew just very slowly lengthened his hair I guess? Actually, I can't see the crew hanging around for however long in the tower or whatever. I'll bet they beamed fresh crew in and old out every so often.
Question though: were the crew ok with helping the Doctor fake his own death as long as he promised to lay low? IDK, maybe they took into account how many millions loved the Doctor?
Did anyone get the twist when they showed so much of the robot crew at the start in the recap? I mean, I assumed they were bringing back the concept of the Question being asked, but I wonder if anyone put two and two together right then and there. It was definitely a better twist than it being Ganger Doctor. Though I'm sure the fandom will piss and moan anyway.
I should mention that I'm not letting anything or anybody harsh my squee, so I won't be reading anybody else's reviews in their journal. You are fully entitled to hate on it all you want in your own space, so I just won't search it out, but also, don't bring it here to my journal. I love this show. I love the Moff, and Matt, Karen, Arthur, and Alex so that's all there is to it, really.
Onward!
Wouldn't it be hilarious if what River whispered in Ten's ear was "Look in my eye."? I mean, obviously she didn't, because she and Ten were alone when he said to her that she said his name, but that just would have been a fun alternate ending. Nah, she's not really living in the library computer, it was just a robot that got fried.
So I guess he tells her his name another time then. Ah well. Maybe during the honeymoon. *wink wink nudge nudge* Also, how many adventures did River and the Doctor have while she was studying archaeology but before she got her PhD? Because she seemed to love him super quick there. The had to have some adventures first, right?
Oh, how I loved Amy wearing Rory's jacket in the back yard! IDK, it was just really cute.
The Question was actually what I figured it would be! Doctor Who, or how I thought of it "Who is the Doctor?" Nice. I never get these things right and am always the last to pick up on things. :P
Hmm, I wonder if next season will feel different? Will the Doctor really be laying low? Even so, he'll still help people and defeat evil aliens because that's what he does!
But baaahh, we didn't get the name of the Christmas Special! Bugger.
