Withdrawal Syndrome - it's not what you think.

Today I officially withdrew from the Margo Patterns Portrait Contest.  There's just no way I could ever get that gown done in the next 29 days.  Oh, I'll get the gown done eventually, but not in the very near future.

The good news is that my dedicated sewing room is about half-way to fruition.  Here's what I've done so far:
* Had a sale to get rid of a lot of the clutter, not just in that room but throughout the house.
* Organized the stuff I kept and put it neatly away in storage bins and carts that fit into the closet when I need to use the room as a guest room.
* Bought tall bookcases to replace the short (overflowing) bookcases.
* Painted the walls where the bookcases go.
* Assembled and filled the bookcases.
* Ordered a sewing cabinet that will hold my machine and serger, yet fold up to a compact size for storage.
* Ordered foam bolsters to turn the daybed currently in that room into a sofa we can use in the den.
* Bought upholstery fabric for said daybed/sofa conversion.
Here's what's left to do:
* Pick up the bolsters (just got a call that they're ready, and I can pick them up on Saturday)
* Sew a skirt for the daybed frame and covers for the mattress and bolsters.
* Get rid of the sofabed currently in the den and move the daybed in there to replace it.
* Paint the other half of the sewing room.
* Assemble the sewing cabinet (when it comes).
* Buy a swivel chair and a floor lamp.
* Buy an aerobed for guests (I'm not expecting any until September, so this is definitely last on my list).
So, it looks as though my next sewing project will be home dec in nature . . . I'm really happy about the way the room is shaping up, though.  I love the new paint color (sage green), and I find myself walking in there several times a day to admire the shiny new bookcases against the shiny new walls.  I even have room to display my Singer 128 and Featherweight sewing machines.  Whee!
