One of my mother's day presents today was Maggie Stiefvater's The Raven King (eeee!). Which reminded me I ought to make a book list for 2016, because this, I am totally going to make time to read.
I read "Watching the English" a few years ago and found it rather uneven. She is unsound on the topic of coasters. (which is a sentence I have been longing to write).
I enjoyed individual sections of it, but she stopped so often to summarize that it felt very repetitive -- especially when read in large chunks (as I did on a plane).
Coasters! Ha! Me, I was frustrated by the number of times the phrase "social dis-ease" appeared in the book. "Unease" or "discomfort" would've been just fine -- the mash-up made me grind my teeth.
