I know that the science points to the Shroud actually coming from something like the early 1000s-1400s. (I think the time period is actually narrower but I don't remember the exact and I'm not looking it up.) I have no concept if the science they are using on the Shroud to determine where the cloth touched the (or rather, a) body and therefore the shape of the bone structure underneath is good science or not. I do know that at least the determination was made that whoever occupied (? I have no better word right now) the Shroud was Middle Eastern. But what really got me was that I read a news article about this on the Internet, and there were two sets of comments, both of which are buhhh? and durrrr. One is that "we can tell what Jesus looked like but we can't find Obama's birth certificate" and the other is that "everyone knows Jesus was European, spent something like 20 years in England and would have been smart enough to hold a modern PhD."
