Dresses

I like Froggy in dresses and leggings. It saves me from forever pulling up her pants. It helps keep her belly warm. I could continue listing reasons but I won't. Instead I will complain about my inability to find either the style dress I want at a reasonable price or a pattern to make the dress myself.

This is a sample of the style

Is this what you're looking for? http://www.landsend.com/pp/CapsleeveJerseyDress~137983_1187.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::UGL&CM_MERCH=IDX_00004__0000000420
It's the children's version of my green short-sleeved knit dress. (Unfortunately, they redesigned the adult version to give it an empire waistline, so I can't get a new one, but I would really like to.) But the girls' dresses are still made the way I like them. They make a long-sleeved style, too. The online catalog has a list price around $30, but they seem to be on sale for $15-20 something like 1/3 of the time. And I often see them at yard sales around here, where the adult dresses go for $3-5 and the children's for less.

If you ever see them at yard sales and they are in good quality, get them please. right now it that dress i will take anything from a 3T to a 6. The ones that are too big for her will get put away. She would live in dresses like that if she had enough. I was positive I had looked at Lands End before and not found it there. Thank you for the link. The specific one you pointed to is not quite what I am looking for. much better but it got us there. Now I just need to decide which pattern and how many I am ordering.

Are there Goodwill or similar places you can scout?

I keep a pretty good eye on the thrift stores around here and have never seen them there.

Unfortunately I almost never see Hannas in thift or even consignment shops. I suspect that people almost always hand them over to friends/relations rather than just getting rid of them because they're just that good.

Firstly, keep an eye on Hanna Anderson and sign up for their email lists. If you can find things on sale they get to a reasonable price and the damn things wear like iron, and they somehow last forever. Evan has a pair of zippers that I bought him when he was less than a year old that he can STILL wear. The girl's dresses are the same way as they can start long, then get paired with leggins as they get older and even be used as a long shirt.

Secondly, look at Quick Sew patterns. I have a book that I am certain should have a pattern in it for that... I'm not willing to loan the entire book because of how infrequently we cross paths, but I'll look in it and I'd be happy to loan you the patterns for it and make you copies of the applicable pages since obviously I won't be using the dress patterns for the forseeable future if ever.

Someone else recommended that book to me. It is out of print but with the dual recommendation it may be worth trying to score from other sources. Still if you would look and possibly photcopy the pattern for me that would be wonderful. And we need to cross paths more often and not just to exchange stuff. My weekends have freed up some and are even more free come March. Lets make a date.
