One zany SGA crossover that I'm probably never going to write. Disclaimer at the end. :)
"So, let me get this straight." Elizabeth said, folding her hands atop the council table. "You're telling me that this weapon is capable of taking out a hiveship, but it requires a psychic to activate it?"
"Two psychics, actually," Rodney said, sharing a look with John that could only be described as glee. "As you know, the Ancients acquired--ah, special abilities--"
"Superpowers," John put in helpfully, then grunted. He shot a glare toward Rodney, and Elizabeth wondered just how hard he had been kicked under the table. She wasn't the only one trying to suppress her laughter; one of the marines standing near the door had a suspicious coughing fit, causing Rodney to lift his chin and clear his throat loudly before continuing.
"As I was saying, the Ancients acquired extra-sensory abilities the closer they got to ascension--healing, telekinesis, and so on; but most importantly for our purposes, they acquired thought sensing. Now, as we know from my experience with the ascension machine, which, by the way, we now know how to use safely thanks to my brilliant insight--"
"No," Elizabeth said.
"--these abilities can be artificially induc--wait, what?"
"No, Rodney, you may not use the ascension machine."
"But, but, hiveship!" he sputtered. "Low power requirements! I hadn't even gotten to the part where the artifact is integrated with the chair. How can you just say 'no' without listening to the rest --" Rodney broke off mid-rant as John dragged him back down into his chair.
"Now, Elizabeth," John said, leaning forward and giving her what he probably thought was an innocent look, no doubt unaware that he often wore that expression in her nightmares.
"--of my proposal," Rodney finished, pulling his arm out of John's grip. "Sheppard!"
"Shut up, McKay." John leaned forward again. "Elizabeth, I don't think we can afford to dismiss this. At least give it a fair hearing before you make your decision."
"Will this fair hearing include a request to use the ascension machine?"
"Well, yes, but--"
"Then the answer is no. I will not risk another one of my expedition members to that machine."
"But, Elizabeth!"
"The discussion is closed, gentlemen. Unless you can find two people that are close enough to ascension--through natural means--to have acquired this ability, then I'm afraid we'll have to find another way to defeat the wraith." She looked around the council table. "Now, is there any other new business?" One of the marines, the one who'd had the coughing fit earlier, stepped forward. "Yes, Sergeant Stackhouse?"
"I don't know about close to ascension, ma'am; but I have this cousin, Sookie…."
Disclaimer--Really, I don't own Stargate, characters from SGA, True Blood, or Sookie Stackhouse. Also, I'm really very sorry about this whole thing. :D
