The King does Valentines.

Max, Theo, and Katie all received a small bag of Cadbury Creme Eggs, the latest paperback edition of the collected Harry Potter, and a note that if they ever got drunk in his house again, he would throw them bodily into the street for the street sweeper to deal with.

Katie also received a box of chocolates and a small peony bouquet.

Patricia, in appreciation for her unflagging efforts at civility on his return from the Middle East, received a bottle of Merlot. From the supermarket.

Mads received a pointedly not-pink bouquet, a tin of tea from his last foray into a Middle Eastern shop, and a six pack of Guinness, to remind her of home and all the drunken idiots therein.

Rick does not give gifts to men. Sorry, guys.

Cygna's gift intentionally arrived one day late. He had already planned the first part of it--namely several bouquets awaiting her at her usual haunts (two places backstage at the theatre, the fabric shop she frequents, and the secondhand bookshop a few blocks away), after leaving a message with Velvet (who he had also contacted about the haunts themselves) to do so.

On her returning home, she would find a small envelope waiting with the man at the front desk, and inside it, a CD, labelled 'The Old Days.' On it, carefully edited by a harassed film student who owed Rick a favour, is a short reel of film from Rick's university days. No longer than five minutes, but it's a significantly different Rick: he laughs more, there's a mate of his he gives a terribly hard time, a couple of co-eds he manages to thoroughly embarrass himself in front of by falling on his arse in a patch of mud--after which the film closes to a stop as Rick chases down the cameraman, mud covering half his noticeably hairless and scarless face. There's a small note in the envelope as well: 'Not particularly romantic, I know, but I've never fooled myself into believing I could really pull off those sorts of things. I figure you've got a right to see a bit of how I was back then. Just in case.'
