If you own a PS3, it can be used while it's on but not active to help researchers in Spain simulate molecular biological processes. All you have to do is download a tiny file from a site the researchers have set up, install the programme on your PS3, and just leave it on and connected to the internet via an ethernet connection when you're not ( Read more... )

I feel I need to point out that finding and communicating with aliens is eminently important for the survival of our species. Not only do they hold the promise of advanced technologies, but we will need their assistance during the machine uprising when the sentient robots we create (using alien technology, no doubt) turn on us.

Sure, simulating molecular biological processes is important, but there will be dire consequences if we lose the war against the robots.

Wal-Mart is currently offering $100 gift cards with the purchase of Blu-Ray players (for a limited time), and according to their site the PS3 qualifies. Juicy!

I feel very strongly that we may be getting one. For science*.
